![The Great Big Green Week logo outline blue](/warwickshireclimateemergency/images/Great_Big_Green_Week_Logo_outline_blue.png)
This talk provides introduction to the idea of community wealth building, a new approach to local development that puts people and planet before profits.
Community Wealth Building aims to keep money in the area, by encouraging an area's big ‘anchor institutions’, such as councils and hospitals, to join together to make sure as much as possible of their supply chain spending goes to local businesses, cooperatives and social enterprises, and to provide the support and training to local people to grow the local businesses that can provide for them.
This event is co-hosted by Stratford Climate Action and Warwickshire Climate Alliance and is an online event.
The Centre for Local Economic Strategies (CLES) is the leading organisation working on community wealth building in the UK. They are involved in many projects across the country, including a large number in the West Midlands, with current work happening in Nuneaton, Sandwell, Wolverhampton, Walsall, Dudley, Birmingham and Solihull. Lauren Bond is a Senior Researcher for CLES and their West Midlands lead. She lives in Stratford.
Date and time: Tuesday 15 June 2023, 7:00pm to 9:00pm
